Welcome to the Town of Elon Department of Public Works and Utilities. The
Department provides a wide range of municipal services to our citizens and
customers.
Garbage Collection Times
Garbage Collection every Tuesday and Friday.
Yard Waste collection second and fourth Thursdays.
Yard Waste needs to be at the curbside Wednesday morning for fee assessment.
Heavy garbage collection every second and fourth Fridays.
* Collection calendars are available at Town Hall.
Tree trimmings, wooden items 5' or less in length, and bagged leaves will be picked up at curbside during these days. Please do not place other garbage with your yard waste.
Appliances (doors removed), scrap metal, and tires off of the rim will be collected during these days.
Yard waste & heavy garbage pickup exceeding 1/2 of a full size pickup truck load will be tagged as paypile and will be charged $25.00 per pile. Payment must be made prior to pickup.
Recycling Collection Times
Recycling every other Friday.
Newspaper, aluminum cans, plastic milk, water, and soda bottles, metal coat hangers, corrugated cardboard and cardboard tubese, glass bottles and jars (clear, green, and brown), and office paper may be recycled. Bins are available thru the Town of Elon.
