Tax Collection

Tax Information
Ownership and taxability of property are determined annually as of January 1st. Annual property tax bills (taxes levied on real estate, business, personal property, and untagged vehicles) are due on September 1st and past due after January 5th. Taxes must be paid before the past due date to avoid interest charges and payments postmarked January 5th will be considered on time. Pay your bill by August 31st to receive an early payment discount of 2%.

We now have a way to pay your tax bill online. Please click here to be taken to our online payment page. If you believe you cannot make the full payment, contact Michele Tyndall, Tax Collector, at 336.548.4828 to arrange a payment plan.

Payments can be mailed, dropped off at Town Hall either in person or in one of the drop boxes. Payments can be made online by visiting our online payment page.

The Town of Elon tax bills are mailed separately from Alamance County tax bills. For information on paying your Alamance County taxes, visit the Alamance County Tax Department.
